Are Joint Supplements Good For Dogs?
As humans, we’ll sometimes need to take vitamins and supplements to support the nutrients provided by our diet. The same goes for our four legged friends. Natural joint supplements for dogs are the safest and most-effective long-term treatment for helping to reduce inflammation and pain, whilst slowing the progression of joint damage and arthritis. Whilst this is essential for all pets, joint supplements are particularly important for canines that struggle with existing joint conditions, such as arthritis. Including joint supplements for dogs in their food will help to relieve their symptoms.
Chondroitin and glucosamine are the most important supplements for supporting healthy joints and mobility. Chondroitin absorbs water which helps keep their cartilage hydrated and healthy, whilst glucosamine regulates the synthesis of collagen and cartilage.
Joint Supplements In Devoted Hypoallergenic Dog Food
Being all too aware of the benefits of joint supplements for dogs, it only seemed right that we include them among our other carefully selected natural ingredients. Protein is an essential nutrient for all pets, which is why our hypoallergenic dog food contains a meat or fish content of at least 70%. Our natural pet food contains a selection of salmon, duck and chicken to name a few examples, but definitely no beef. Allow us to explain why we chose to leave beef for dogs out of our tasty recipes.
Is Beef Bad For Dogs?
Whilst for most dogs, beef is safe to eat in small quantities, and can be a good source of protein, it is unfortunately also one of the most common pet allergens. At Devoted, our mission is to provide pet food to suit the dietary requirements of all pets. As a result, it simply didn’t make sense to include an ingredient that may upset some of our four-legged friends. We’ve completed thorough research with the help of the UK’s leading pet nutritionists in order to create hypoallergenic dog food that won’t upset pets with allergies or any other sensitivities. Our natural pet food is packed full of plenty of other highly nutritious ingredients, including antioxidant rich fruit and veg, and a healthy dose of joint supplements.
We’re seriously devoted to ensuring every ingredient selected for our hypoallergenic dog food will contribute towards the health, happiness and wellbeing of your four-legged family member. In other words, we’re pretty picky about what we choose to include. You may have noticed that we use a range of freshly prepared meat in our natural pet food - duck, chicken and salmon to name a few. What’s not included is pork. This is because pork for dogs is not always a healthy choice.
Is Pork Bad For Dogs?
Not all pork is especially bad for dogs. It is safe for pets to eat pork in small doses, however it is not the best choice of meat to feed them. That’s why we chose not to include it on our hypoallergenic dog food. Unlike other meats, such as chicken and turkey which are very lean, pork is very high in fat and salt. Just like high levels of salt and fat are bad for us humans, so too are they bad for our canine chums and feline friends. The high fat and salt content means that pork for dogs can cause stomach problems as well as disrupting their digestive system.
When shopping for the perfect meals for your dog, you may have noticed that many pet food brands have a tendency to bulk their food out with wheat and grains. Aside from ruining the good flavour that pet food should have, grain can also cause terrible digestive and skin problems. This is because dogs simply don’t have the enzymes to break down the excess grains. That’s why choosing grain free dog food is so important for ensuring your pet maintains a healthy digestive system and isn’t in any discomfort.
Why Is Grain Free Better For Dogs?
Aside from supporting your pet’s digestive system, particularly for those with sensitive stomachs, there are many other benefits to choosing grain free dog food. Some pets can also be intolerant to grain, for example grains which contain gluten. This makes a grain free diet a particularly good choice for pets that struggle with allergies or sensitivities. Devoted’s hypoallergenic dog food and is always 100% grain free. Rather than bulking it out with grains that can be problematic for pet health, we’ve packed our grain free dog food full of freshly prepared proteins and nutrient rich fruit and veg. At least 70% of the ingredients are made up of freshly prepared proteins, while the remaining percentage is made up of fruit and vegetables, leaving no room for unnecessary additives like grains.
You may have noticed that some other pet food brands include wheat in their recipes. At Devoted, based on our thorough research of the dietary needs of different breeds, we’ve decided against using wheat in our hypoallergenic dog food. This is because some dogs can be intolerant to the gluten that’s found in wheat.
Is Wheat Bad For Dogs?
For many pets, wheat is not unsafe to eat, however it doesn’t really add any kind of nutritional value to their diets. It’s often used by pet food brands as a cheap method for bulking out their foods, alongside other grains. Its lack of value is just one reason we’ve chosen not to use wheat in our recipes. However, another reason is that some dogs can be allergic to it, due to the gluten content. Symptoms such as itchy or sore skin and vomiting or diarrhoea can be signs of a food allergy, so if you notice any of these, you should check in with your vet. If your pet does have an allergy, you can rely on Devoted’s hypoallergenic dog food to provide them with delicious meals that won’t upset their health or wellbeing. All our ingredients are 100% natural and have been carefully selected to ensure they are suitable for all pets, regardless of their allergies or sensitivities.
All our hypoallergenic dog food and puppy food has a minimum 70% meat content - the rest is made up of fresh fruit and vegetable ingredients that are high in antioxidants and rich in minerals. We don’t bulk our pet food out with any additional extras, like dairy. Allow us to explain in a little more detail why this is.
Is Dairy Bad For Dogs?
With many pet owners treating their four-legged friends to the odd dairy product here and there, such as a bowl of milk, you may be wondering why we’ve deliberately omitted it from our dog food. Is dairy bad for dogs? The answer to this is, in most cases, “yes”. Most dogs are actually lactose-intolerant. In other words, they do not have the necessary enzymes to digest dairy products. This can result in stomach upsets, and if consumed regularly, could cause significant health issues. Ensuring that our hypoallergenic pet food contains absolutely zero dairy, makes sure that it is suitable for all pooches and felines, regardless of if they have any known or suspected allergies.
Soy is a plant-based source of protein that comes from soy beans. Soy is often included in pet foods, albeit under a different name. Soy may be listed under “vegetable protein” or “natural flavouring” for example. Other pet foods include soy in their recipes, so why have we at Devoted chosen not to include it in our hypoallergenic dog food?
Is Soy Bad For Dogs?
The answer to the question of “is soy bad for dogs”, isn’t a simple “yes” or “no”. As an ingredient alone, soy isn’t technically unsafe for dogs to eat. In fact it can be a good source of protein. However, unfortunately it is also one of the most common causes of food allergens among dogs. Itchy skin, hair loss or digestive disruptions can all be potential signs of a soy allergy or other food allergy in pets. It’s important to check any of these symptoms out with a vet. Knowing that soy can be a problem for a lot of pets, we’ve chosen to avoid using it in our hypoallergenic pet food so that it’s suitable for all four-legged friends. Instead we ensure our recipes are high in protein from freshly prepared meats and carefully selected fruit and veg, providing all the nutrients your pet needs to stay strong, healthy and happy!
Our foods are tasty and hypoallergenic and suitable even for dogs with sensitive digestions. They are highly digestible because of their freshly prepared meats.
